Renew for Spring

SPRING has arrived and nature is blossoming all around us. The change in season and temperature can have an effect your skin. Spring is the perfect time to reassess your beauty and health routine. To determine how the change in season effects the needs of your skin, take our Personal Skin Care Profile which will help you transition your beauty regime form one season to the next. Start the season right by following these simple tips in order to revitalize your mind, body and spirit.

If you live in a cold climate, you’ve probably spent most of the winter bundled up in layers of clothing so it was easy to overlook how dry your skin could have become. Exfoliate and smooth your skin by using a loofah or dry brush all over your body to remove the layer of dead cells. Pay special attention to the target areas of elbows, knees and heels.

As temperatures rise, typically, your skin feels less dry and more hydrated. Be sure to check the condition of your skin to see if you need to replace your heavy moisturizer with a lighter version. It’s important to give your skin what its needs where it needs it without overdoing it. Using a heavy, oil-rich moisturizer when your skin doesn’t need it can lead to potential break-outs.

During the winter, we tend to miss out on the natural warmth and health benefits that come from soaking in the sunlight. As a result, many of us can experience a drop in our Vitamin D and energy levels. Thankfully, Spring has come with warmer temperatures. Go outside, breathe in the fresh air and soak in some sunlight. Get your daily dose of Vitamin D. Just don’t forget to wear sunscreen!

Do some Spring cleaning. Spring’s the best time to make sure your make-up is still good to use. If not, go ahead and toss it! Over time, make-up harbors bacteria and can lose its effectiveness. Always get rid of your make-up when you start to notice changes in the consistency of color, texture and even smell. Start fresh! Consider shopping for new make-up in pretty, light Spring colors.

Colder temperatures can be extremely hard on your lips and hair. In order to repair chapped, dry lips remember to apply protective lip balm with hydrating ingredients. To help replenish a dry scalp and hair incorporate moisturizing scalp treatments and conditioners with oils.

Spring is a great time to start or recommit to eating a healthier diet and exercising. Get outside and walk as much as you can. Take the time to breathe in the fresh air, smell the sweet aromas from the flowers blooming, feel the sun on your face, and experience the wind in your hair. Communing with the beauty of nature can lighten your mood and lift your spirit. Reduce stress by exercising, practicing yoga or meditating. Try changing your routine by going outside. Sleep! It’s so important! Try to sleep for at least 8 hours in order to be completely present and at your best to greet the new day.
